Im not sure which story is my favorite Celebrate Recovery jail story, sometimes that changes weekly
as I have the honor of watching womens lives changed through the power of Gods Word. There are no
words to explain the joy of the women that I met in jail come into a Celebrate Recovery meetings or church
service, usually with family members.
One night at ICC, after the teaching of Gods Word, during round table discussion, one of the women broke
out in tears asking us how she could have this too. She said, I am forty years old and have never heard this
(Jesus preached) before. I had only been going to jail a few months when this woman received Jesus and
confirmed in my heart that God has called me into the jail.
Linda is a woman that I met at Pettis County jail. She would attend our meetings and never really had much to say.
When we would ask her if she wanted to receive Jesus, she would just say, Im listening. Finally, one evening,
this beautiful fifty-year-old woman accepted Jesus as her Savior. Her life was radically changed. Shortly after
that, her husband (also in the Pettis Jail), accepted Jesus as his savior. Linda and her husband are now serving
time in State DOC facilities. She writes the most beautiful letters about what the Lord is doing in her life as
she looks forward to her release in a couple of months. Lindas goal is to get her life together so that she will
be able to take Gods Word and share it with other hurting people in need of deliverance, healing and recovery.
God is so good.
